The Effect of the Peritoneal Irrigation-Solution to the Pertioneal macrophage in Rat

Abstract
Diffuse peritonitis and acute necrotizing pancreatitis remain formidable problem and are still associated with considerable mortality and morbidity despite of the use of proper surgical drainage and systemic antibiotic therapy. It is well-known
that
continuous peritoneal irrigation with saline is considerable beneficial effects in such conditions. Normal saline solution have been used for peritoneal irrigation. But, PH of normal saline is slightly acidotic(pH 7.0), it is a little bit doutful
that
normal saline might be harmful to the peritoneal macrophages. There fore we have done comparative study on the effect of three solutions(Normal saline, Ringer's lactate solution, Hank's solution) to the peritoneal macrophages.
The normal saline(control), Lactated Ringer's solution, and Hank's solution were injected in the peritoneal cavity of the rat. The amount of the injected solution were about 30cc, and then injected peritoneal fluid were retrieved and counted the
number
of the peritoneal macrophages and dead macrophages immediately, after 30min, 60min, and 120min. respectively.
@ES the results were as follows;
@EN 1) There were no significant differences in the number of the macrophages between the 3 groups which are examined after 30 min.
2) The number of macrophages that were examined after 60 min. declined more evidently in the group which used the normal saline compare with the group which used the Hank's solution(P<0.05).
3) The number of macrophages that were examined after 120 min. increased muchmore evidently in the group which used the Hank's solution and Ringer's lactate solution.
Compare with the group of normal saline solution(P<0.001).
4) the number of dead macrophages that were examined immediately were increased significantly in saline group compare to the another 2 groups, but there were no differences in 30min 60min, and 120min.
5) Normal saline solution and Riger's lactate solution were nearly absorbed to the peritoneum in 3 hours after peritoneal injection. But the Hank's solution were not absorded at all.
In summary, the results suggest that Ringer's lactate solution and Hank's solution are more useful than normal saline for peritoneal irrigation of the regarding to the changes of peritoneal macrophages.
And according to the peritoneal absorption, normal saline and Ringer's lactate solution are more useful. Therefore, we could recommend Ringer's lactate solution is more useful solution for peritoneal irrigation, But we need kfurther study for
macrophage's activities in the fluids and changes of macrophages in the changes of PH.
